Quick Way to Change Your Eating Habits

Quick Way to Change Your Eating Habits

Who else wants to feel (and look) 10 years younger? Upgrade your fuel!

Food is fuel for your body. The higher quality food you consume, the better your body will work. Without learning indigestible (pun intended) amounts of nutritional information, remember this the next time you are figuring out what to eat: Fresh is Better.

What does Fresh mean? In general, plant based foods will give you the highest concentration of micro-nutrients and phyto-nutrients. Examples are vitamins, minerals, and other antioxidants that keep you healthy. Plants (fruits and vegetables) will go bad just sitting on a shelf. Packaged chips and cookies take a lot longer to go bad. So, items that you need to keep/buy fresh are generally better for your next meal choice.

Does this mean I should not eat meat? No. Meat will go bad. You have to buy it fresh so that is good. The problem with meat is that you do not know what hormones or food that animal was given/fed. Read your labels. All types of meat offer good sources of macro-nutrients (protein, fat, and carbohydrates). Just limit your consumption by trying to make plants the largest portion of food on your plate.

Real Recess suggests eating 4-6 meals per day. That means no snacking. There should be between 3-5 hours between meals where there are no calories entering your body (water does not have calories). When you do consume those calories, make them count!
